A bit of background
Growing up my family wasn't religious; Mum sometimes took us to temple during Chinese New Year and we'd eat vegetarian food and do the joss stick thing (which is pretty fun tbh) but that was about it. Dad was an athiest but, like Mum, was 'non-practicing' - whatever that means for an Atheist.
I've always been interested in faith but it always felt so alien and foreign; something I just couldn't understand or empathise with. As a result, my curiosity often manifested in questions, hostility, and often straight up mockery. To any religious folk who had the displeasure of interacting with me during that time, thank you for your patience and I'm really very sorry. But. To be fair, it was undeniably character building so there's a bit of 'you're welcome' there too.
People who knew me in the past are often shocked to learn that I'm now a Christian, they usually say something like "wow, I am shocked that you are now a Christian". What a way with words you have Damien, a master storyteller.
Over the next few weeks we'll dig deeper into my testimony story, I hope you'll find it interesting, entertaining and insightful and then we'll see where it goes from there 🙂
Cheers,
Damien
P.S here are some potential future blog post titles...

2. High school religion time - demountable prison or sweet milk
3. Let's sing at Hillsong
4. Flirt to convert - frowned upon by pastors but pretty effective
